Try to recall the last day you woke up without scrolling your cell phone. My family members started their days during my childhood with a cup of tea and a newspaper. But, in the present time, they are starting their day with a cell phone and a cup of tea.

This photo blurred the paper printed New York Times and focused on the online version of this newspaper. The online version photo is so clear, colorful, and appealing. I clicked the picture like this to clarify how digital media has faded away from our paper-based newspaper.

Today’s world is undeniably digital, and new technologies make the planet unrecognizable from 20 years ago. Mid-agers are now concerned with their social media profiles and track their calorie burn and footsteps recorded on apple watches. Seniors prefer tablets over newspapers and FaceTime over phone lines. We are spending more and more time connected, with the average U.S. citizen spending more time staring at a screen than sleeping.

In a Medium post, Chris explains that the number of devices connected to the internet is larger than the total population worldwide. ‘In 2017, 27 billion devices were connected using IoT. This number is expected to increase to 125 billion by just 2030’. It is estimated that by 2030 every person will own 15 connected devices.

Before the pandemic, only 30% of U.S. employees worked remotely 100% of the time, according to Owl Labs. For the other, 70% included 38% of the U.S. workforce working only on-site. The transition to working remote full-time has been a shock to the system figuratively and, in some cases, quite literally, when user demand has exceeded system bandwidth. The pandemic has ended, but people are still taking advantage of working from home if they have the opportunity. Most of them are unwilling to get back to the office. Recently, Elon Musk has declared that the employee not interested in returning to the office can quit the job.

Faisal Ahmed is a Mechanical Engineer enjoying working from home. He said most of his works are related to research and engineering design, so he can easily manage them from home. He believes working from home looks pretty productive as he can work at his own pace.

So, we are heading towards a digital world. From education to entertainment, we prefer staying at home and working.
