About

Welcome to my website! I am Farhana Sharmin, a dedicated and performance-driven strategic communication practitioner pursuing a Master of Arts (MA) in Strategic Communication at SUNY Oswego, NY, USA. I have a rich academic background, holding an MA in World Literature and a BA in English Literature and Language from Jagannath University, Bangladesh. My research interests span women and gender studies, ecocriticism, digital media, film, and communication studies.

Throughout my academic journey, I have engaged in diverse and impactful projects. During my bachelor’s, I completed a significant project on the handicraft sectors of Bangladesh, culminating in a report titled “Handicraft in Bangladesh: Present Scenario and Possibilities.” My master’s thesis in World Literature explored postmodern aesthetics in Philip Kaufman’s adaptation of Milan Kundera’s The Unbearable Lightness of Being. This work earned me the Dean’s Merit Award for academic excellence.

I am passionate about strategic communication and have honed my skills through various internships and consultancy roles. As a Strategic Communications Specialist Intern for Women of Power, CA, I developed and executed strategies that significantly increased brand visibility and donor engagement. As a Social Media Manager Intern for the Gainesville United Nations Association, I created innovative social media strategies that boosted online presence and engagement.

In addition to my professional endeavors, I have a history of excellence in debating, having won the national award in debating in 2003 in Bangladesh. I enjoy traveling to new places, cooking new cuisines, and singing in my leisure time.

My applied skills include writing and editing social media and web content, social media strategy and public relations campaign planning, website building, academic report writing and editing, and newsletter writing. I am proficient in various tools, such as SPSS (IBM), Canva, Adobe, Mailchimp, Slack, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
